Amateur boxing eyesight problem?

I trained as an amateur boxer but was told I wouldn't be able to compete in matches because I am short sighted. I asked if I would be allowed to wear contact lenses but that isn't allowed. You have to be able to pass an eye test without glasses or contact lenses so it really depends how bad your eyesight is. All you can do is take the medical and see what happens.
