Help! Problems with applying false lashes?

Okay so I tried applying false lashes for the very first time to today after watching some youtube tutorials on it. I don't think I did it right. First, how is supposed to feel? because when I open my eyes really wide I can feel the glue tugging, and it just feels weird in general. Second, should I be able to see the lashes in my line of vision? I feel like they're impeding my eyesight. Third, I used demi lashes to make them seem more natural but they don't look natural at all! They look too long, but they really aren't that much longer than my regular lashes. =/ I don't know what to do! I thought demi lashes were supposed to look natural?
